EAGLE Migration Service
EAGLE to KiCad or Altium Migration
Autodesk ended EAGLE on June 7, 2026. We move your EAGLE boards to KiCad or Altium Designer, rebuild what the importer misses, and prove the result matches the board you last built.
What does the EAGLE migration service include?
Circuit Board Design converts EAGLE schematics, layouts and libraries to KiCad or Altium Designer. We rebuild design rules, net classes, polygon pours and BOM fields, check custom footprints against datasheets, then compare netlists and overlay the new Gerbers on the Gerbers of your last built board. You get native project files, a new fabrication package and a written report of every difference. Each board gets a fixed quote, and the first step is a free quick check of your files.

What We Deliver
Schematic and Layout
Every schematic sheet and the board layout imported into KiCad or Altium, with layer mapping, board outline and milling checked before anything else.
Libraries Checked
Imported symbols and footprints linked into a clean project library. Custom footprints are checked against the part datasheet, because migrated footprints are where boards break.
Rules and Net Classes Rebuilt
Clearances, track widths, power and impedance net classes set up on purpose from your fab's capabilities, not left as whatever the importer produced.
Pours and Thermals
Every polygon pour refilled and checked for priority, thermal reliefs, isolation and islands. EAGLE rank and KiCad priority count in opposite directions.
BOM and Outputs
Part numbers and BOM attributes carried over and checked, then new Gerbers, drill, BOM and pick-and-place files set up as output jobs in the new tool.
Gerber Comparison
Netlist compare plus a layer-by-layer overlay of the old and new Gerbers. Every difference is explained in writing before you order boards.
Our Process
Free Quick Check of Your Files
Send a link to your EAGLE files and the outputs of the last board you built. Within 2 business days you get notes on what will move cleanly and what needs rebuilding, then a fixed quote per board.
Archive the Golden Reference
We freeze the EAGLE .sch, .brd, .lbr, rules and the Gerbers, BOM and XY of the last built revision. Every later check compares against this set.
Import and Clean Up
Import into KiCad or Altium, then rebuild what the importer misses: libraries, rules and net classes, pours, BOM fields and output jobs.
Verify Against the Original
ERC and DRC, a netlist comparison and a layer-by-layer Gerber overlay against the golden set. Differences are fixed or explained.
Release
You get the native project, the checked library, a new output package and a short migration report, tagged as a new revision.
Capabilities
What You Get
- Native KiCad or Altium project: schematic, board and project library
- Fabrication package from the new tool: Gerbers, drill, BOM and pick-and-place
- Gerber comparison against your original, with each difference explained
- Netlist comparison result and clean ERC and DRC reports
- Short migration notes per board: what changed, what was rebuilt, what to watch
KiCad or Altium?
Choose the tool used by whoever edits the files next. KiCad is free to open and suits boards built at JLCPCB or PCBWay. Altium suits dense multilayer work and teams whose manufacturer works in Altium. See KiCad PCB design and our Altium vs KiCad comparison.
Fixed quote per board
The quote depends on layer count, schematic sheets, custom footprints and how many pours and rule classes need rebuilding. Start with the free quick check: notes in 2 business days, then a fixed quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can you convert my EAGLE files to KiCad or Altium?
- Yes. We convert EAGLE schematics, board layouts and libraries to KiCad or Altium Designer, rebuild the design rules, net classes and pours the importer misses, and check the result against the Gerbers of the last board you built. You get native project files in the tool you choose.
- Is EAGLE still supported?
- No. Autodesk stopped selling and supporting EAGLE on June 7, 2026. Your files still open and boards in production keep working, but the next revision needs a supported tool. Moving the design before a change is due is cheaper than moving it under deadline.
- Should I move to KiCad or Altium?
- Pick the tool used by whoever edits the files next. KiCad is free, so anyone can open your files, and it suits startups and boards built at JLCPCB or PCBWay. Altium suits dense multilayer and high-speed work, and teams whose contract manufacturer or customer works in Altium. We deliver native files in either.
- How do you prove the migrated board matches the original?
- We compare netlists exported from the EAGLE design and the migrated design, then overlay the old and new Gerbers layer by layer. Every difference is listed in a short report as either a deliberate change or a fix we made. If you have no Gerbers from a built board, we compare against the EAGLE design and tell you so.
- What files do I need to send?
- Send the EAGLE .sch, .brd and .lbr files, the .dru design rules and CAM job if you have them, plus the Gerbers, drill files, BOM and pick-and-place file from the last board you built. A shared drive link is fine. Files saved by EAGLE versions older than 6 must be saved again as XML first.
- How much does EAGLE migration cost?
- Each board gets a fixed quote before work starts, after we look at the files. The price depends on layer count, number of schematic sheets, how many custom footprints need checking against datasheets, and how many pours and rule classes must be rebuilt. Start with the free quick check and you get notes plus the fixed quote.
- Can you change the design while you migrate it?
- Yes, but as a separate step. We migrate and verify first, so the Gerber comparison shows zero unexplained changes. Then we make your changes as a new revision. Mixing the two hides migration errors inside intended edits.
- Can you migrate several boards that share one library?
- Yes. We clean up and verify the shared library once, then migrate each board against it, so every board uses the same checked symbols and footprints. Each board still gets its own fixed quote and its own Gerber comparison.
Free quick check
Free quick check of your board: notes in 2 business days. Then a fixed quote.
Send a link to your schematic and layout. An IPC CID+ certified designer checks it against the faults that most often cost a respin, and you get written notes. No obligation.
