JLCPCB-Ready

KiCad PCB Design

KiCad schematic and layout delivered as files you own and can open for free, with a manufacturing package you can upload to JLCPCB or PCBWay the same day.

What does the KiCad PCB design service include?

Circuit Board Design designs boards in KiCad and delivers the native KiCad project, schematic, board file and custom libraries with every job. Each release includes Gerbers, drill files, a BOM with LCSC part numbers where available, a CPL file with rotations checked in the assembler's preview, a STEP model and a schematic PDF. Design rules are set from your fab's published capabilities, so the files are ready to upload to JLCPCB, PCBWay or OSH Park.

What We Deliver

Native KiCad Files, Always

The full KiCad project, schematic, board and custom symbol and footprint libraries are part of every delivery. Not a premium add-on. Your team can open and edit everything for free.

JLCPCB and PCBWay Ready

Gerbers, drill files, BOM and CPL in the format your assembler expects, with LCSC part numbers where stock allows and part rotations checked in the assembler's own preview.

DRC Against Your Fab's Rules

Design rules are set from your fab house's published capabilities before routing starts, so the board passes their checks the first time instead of coming back on hold.

Finish a Board You Started

Half-done KiCad project or a layout from a freelancer that does not work? We audit it first, give you a written fix list and a fixed quote, then finish it.

3D Model for Your Enclosure

A STEP model of the assembled board with connector and mounting-hole positions checked, so your mechanical designer can fit the enclosure before you order.

EAGLE and EasyEDA Migration

Autodesk ended EAGLE in 2026. We move EAGLE and EasyEDA designs into KiCad and check every migrated footprint against its datasheet, because migrated libraries are where boards break.

Our Process

1

Requirements and Fab Choice

We confirm what the board must do, the enclosure limits and which fab and assembler you will use, then set the design rules from that fab's capabilities.

2

Schematic Approval

You approve the schematic and the key part choices before any layout starts, with stock checked at your assembler.

3

Placement and Stackup Approval

You see the component placement and layer stackup before routing, so connector positions and board outline are agreed early.

4

Routing and Checks

Routing, DRC against your fab's rules, ERC, and a review of ground return, decoupling, antenna keepout and protection placement.

5

Release Package

Native KiCad project and libraries, Gerbers, drill, BOM, CPL, schematic PDF, STEP model and assembly drawing, ready to upload.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you design PCBs in KiCad?
Yes. We design in KiCad 8 and 9 and deliver the native project: schematic, PCB, and the custom symbol and footprint libraries the board uses. Nothing is locked in a paid tool, so your team or your next engineer can open and edit every file for free.
Can you make my board ready to upload to JLCPCB?
Yes. We set the design rules to JLCPCB's published capabilities before routing, run DRC against them, and export Gerbers, drill files, a BOM and a CPL (pick-and-place) file in JLCPCB's format. Component rotations are checked in JLCPCB's assembly preview before release, because wrong CPL rotations are the most common reason assembled boards come back wrong. PCBWay and other fabs are supported the same way.
Can you finish a KiCad board I started?
Yes. Send the KiCad project as it stands. We review the schematic and any existing placement first, list what needs fixing, and quote the remaining work before starting. You keep the native files throughout.
What files do I get at the end?
The native KiCad project and libraries, Gerbers and drill files, BOM and CPL in your fab's format, schematic PDF, assembly drawing, a 3D STEP model for enclosure checks, and the DRC report. Editable source files are included by default, not as an extra.
Is KiCad good enough for a professional board?
For most startup boards, yes. A 4-layer board with an MCU, a radio module and USB-C power is well within what KiCad handles, and the files cost nothing to open. Altium makes more sense when your team or your contract manufacturer already standardises on it. We work in both.
Can you convert an EAGLE design to KiCad?
Yes. Autodesk stopped selling and supporting EAGLE in June 2026. KiCad imports EAGLE projects well, but imported footprints and libraries must be checked against the datasheets, because footprint errors are the most common cause of dead boards. We import, verify every footprint and hand back a clean KiCad project.
How long does a KiCad PCB design take?
Simple 2 to 4 layer layouts take 3 to 5 business days once the schematic is final. Complex HDI or high-speed boards take 7 to 14. You approve the placement before routing starts, so there are no surprises at the end.
